Amazon.com has made a deal with British book retailer Waterstone's allowing them to sell Kindle devices. Since the deal with Waterstone's, Barnes & Noble's Nook is beaten by Amazon's Kindle. Amazon has scheduled to have their Kindles in all 294 Waterstone's shops by September. The Kindles in Britain's largest bookstore chain shows the need for physical book companies to get a piece of the digital business. Amazon sees this deal as a great opportunity to get their device out there in Britain. Waterstone's wants some of the lucrative sales, a connection to the Kindle users in Britain. They also want to craft a "digital environment."

Web 2.0: Finding a Web 2.0 Tool

If you were to be looking for a good web 2.0 tool to use for school, Edmodo is great! My brother owns an edmodo for his history class in school. On edmodo, my brother's teacher, Ms. Alves, may post homework assignment that you will have to comment on with the answer or task. She also can link homework sheets and study guides on her edmodo. The teacher may also help a student by linking a powerpoint on a post. The powerpoint may go over the lesson that she taught during class. This will help a student that may not have fully comprehended the lesson.

Summer '12

Summer
Costa Rica

I cannot wait until the summer! No more soccer games or homework. Just sleeping in and hanging out with my friends. I can't wait to spend my summer at my aunt's pool with my friends and family.  I plan on going to summer rec. and hangout with my friends. My cousin is coming home from college in Costa Rica, off of the Long Island University and I can't wait til she gets home either.  I plan on spending a good part of my summer with my cousins. I haven't seen some of them in what seems like forever. The last time I've seen some of them is Good Friday and Easter and not everyone was there. I especially have not seen my cousin's best friend Morgan in such a long time. Morgan is my cousin Maryann's best friend who we all consider family. I also can't wait to spend all my summer listening to amazing music like Jason Mraz , The Script, or Hollywood Undead. I really can't wait for the summer, as you can see.

Spring Break

Hi! Over the past week and a half I've had spring break. For the first week, I slept in for many hours. After I slept in I read and finished a new book each day from Monday to Thursday. A book I read has a second book in the series  that I am reading now. If you want to check out the first book Abducted, click here. On Friday, I went to my cousin's house for Good Friday. Our parents hid 212 eggs for only the 5 of us to find because my other cousins were in college. My cousins they slept over my house and on Saturday we went Laser Tagging. Then I went to go see Titanic. On Sunday, I went to my grandma's house and hung out with my family, ate dinner and played with my cousin's dog Douggle. Finally it was the last day and I had so much homework to do! I finally finished it after procrastinating at midnight.

Blind Man Gets to Taco Bell in Google's Self-Driving Car

For Link Click Here.

Recently, a YouTube video od the journey of Steve Mahan was showed on Google+. Steve Manhan is a legally blind resident of Morgan Hill, California. The Google self-driving Toyota Prius was tested for more than 200,000 before the company thought it was fine for Manhan to take a ride to Taco Bell and to pick up dry cleaning. Google received permission from the local police department to let Manhan be in the driver's seat without a license. To avoid any legal issues, Sergeant Troy Hoefling was put in the car with Manhan by the police department.
As much as this car can be helpful, they are not quite ready to hit the road yet.  Nevada made this car legal on the road in February 2012. They still need to allow car manufacturer testing the car. They are also planning to make the color of the license plate different.
In the video below,  Manhan says that he is only 95% blind but he is still very delayed by every task. There are some places where he cannot go or things you cannot do. He is happy that Google's car is going to change that by allowing him to do more tasks.

An App Where You Cozy Up to Strangers?

For Link Click Here.

If you could have a sixth sense, what would you want it to be? Well Paul Davison is convinced that in 5 or 10 years Smartphones and apps will become our sixth sense that would feel impossible to live without. He believes that in 5 or 10 years we will be able to walk into a room and know everyone's name, where they work, and what people you know in common by his app called Highlight. This app is not the normal app, its a little more creepy than usual. The way this app works is that when you upload the app, you will log into Facebook. Then when you are on the road and someone else who uses Highlight that has some connection to you, the app will alert you. You may look at the map and see where you are and where the person you have a connection to. You could also then message them.

The Weekend After Stokes

This weekend, I was killed with sports. I was supposed to have five games this weekend. I should have had two basketball games and three soccer games. I had a double hitter in basketball, however I could not go to both. I ended up going to the first basketball game, but the other team did not show up. I came home and I had a little time before my soccer game.

I went to my soccer game for the Rutherford team I am on and got killed in the goal. I got kicked in the back of the head by a forward on the other team. I also got kneed in the muscle in my thigh. That was the end of that horrible game. It was now Sunday and I had two soccer games. My first game was once again with my Rutherford team. We played Hackensack, I think, and we did not do to well. We lost by a lot, and I was pissed. A few hours later, I had my last indoor soccer game with my Wood- Ridge team. We are the 0-7 team and we played the 7-0 team. We lost big time, again.

Does Google Support Gay Marriage?

To read the full article, Click here.

As you should know, Google had a doodle video on their website on Tuesday, Valentine’s Day. In the sketch, a boy was trying to win over a girl, who is jumping rope, by looking up on google the average items to buy your Valentine. None of these items attracted the girl, however when the boy gets out his jump rope and jumps next to her, the boy has one her heart.
Above is what Google.com looked like
at the end of the Valentine's Day
video.
The girl does not like the
boring gift he gives her.
At the end of the video, there was a screen with six gay couples in six boxes. As the one shown in the picture. This brings up the question, does Google promote gay marriage? In 2008, Google came out against Proposition 8, which was against gay marriages in states, so it would not be the first time. Also, in 2011 during Gay Pride Month, Google changes its layout. When you search a word that is related to being gay, Google had a rainbow slide down from the top of the page and then twirl around the search bar.
He has won her heart and they live
Happily Ever After.

Above is the symbol of
Gay Pride Month.
If this does support gay marriage, Google did it at the right time. With Washington becoming the seventh state to allow gay marriage and New Jersey may be voting on as soon as Thursday, there couldn’t be better timing.

Welcome to Sandra's Blog

Hi I'm Sandra, and I love to play soccer! I am a goalie and my soccer team is like my second family. However, my actual family is amazing, we've been told we are kind of outrageous. I have an older brother named Kevin who I can sometimes hate but in the end he loves me. I could not live without my family, I would die. Just like my friends, I know that they are always there for me and I'm there for them. Well anyways, have fun reading the rest of my posts.
